Tasting Notes

Deep garnet with a slightly evolved rim. The nose is powerful and complex, opening with blackcurrant, cassis, and dark plum, layered with classic Pauillac notes of cedar, cigar box, graphite, and tobacco. With air, it reveals further nuances of leather, spice, and earthy undertones.

On the palate, full-bodied and structured, with a dense core of dark fruit supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins. The wine retains impressive backbone and precision, balanced by developing tertiary complexity. The finish is long, persistent, and savoury, marked by notes of cedar, spice, and mineral depth.

A benchmark mature Mouton—still showing strength, depth, and remarkable ageing capability.

Pairings

Pairs best with rich dishes such as ribeye steak, roasted lamb, and game, where its structure and depth can fully shine. It also works well with slow-braised meats and aged cheeses like Comté or mature Cheddar, which complement its savoury complexity.

Decant
