Tasting Notes

A red grape variety originally from Austria, created by crossing Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent. It is known for producing wines that are fruit-driven, fresh, and approachable, with good natural acidity and soft tannins. In cool climates, Zweigelt can show an elegant, Pinot-like side while retaining its own lively character, making it both versatile and easy to enjoy.

Pairings

Zweigelt pairs effortlessly with roasted or grilled poultry, pork dishes, and sausages, and works beautifully alongside mushroom-based plates and light game. Its freshness also makes it a great match for Japanese dishes such as yakitori, teriyaki chicken, and lightly grilled meats, as well as semi-soft cheeses like Emmental or mild Alpine-style cheeses.

Decant

A short, gentle decant of 15–20 minutes or simply opening the bottle shortly before serving helps the wine open up and show more clarity. Avoid long or aggressive decanting, this wine is meant to be enjoyed for its freshness and ease rather than power.

Drinking Window

Now through 2028. It is designed to be enjoyed relatively young for its freshness and vibrancy, while a few years of bottle age will add extra harmony and depth
