Tasting Notes

Deep ruby with purple highlights, this Pétrus opens with rich aromas of black cherry, mulberry, and ripe plum, followed by truffle and earthy clay-mineral undertones. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant, showing plush fruit, sweet tannins and low acidity, finishing with length and a polished firmness.

Pairings

Perfect matches include roast lamb rack, Wagyu tenderloin, and veal loin, along with earthy dishes such as black truffle risotto, porcini tagliatelle, or a wild mushroom fricassée. It also shines with game like duck breast or pigeon, where the natural sweetness and richness harmonize with the wine’s plum, cocoa and truffle notes. For cheese, choose aged Comté or a mild, nutty alpine style to highlight the wine’s finesse without overwhelming its subtle tertiary complexity.

Decant

Decant gently for 30 to 45 minutes.

The wine is already 25 years old, so long decanting can cause it to fade. The goal is only to let it open and remove sediment, not to over-oxygenate it.
